Frequently Asked Questions - Basic RiderCourse (BRC)
1. Do you price match, and what are the rules for it?
Absolutely, we do price match! Here are the details:
- We only price match classes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
- The class you want to price match must be available on the same date as your desired sign-up date.
- We cannot price match if the competitor's class is not on the same date, if their class is full or unavailable.
- Make sure to request the price match when you register for your class, as we can't adjust the price after the transaction.
- Please note that our price matching policy cannot be combined with any other offers or discounts, and it doesn't apply to gift certificates or Groupon offers. Happy price matching!
2. Is this the course I need for a Motorcycle License in Texas?
Yes, you're in the right place! Since September 2009, it's required to complete a Motorcycle Training Course to obtain a Motorcycle License in Texas. Our Basic RiderCourse is one of the approved options for Texas Motorcycle Licensing. Check our licensing requirements for more detailed information on getting your Motorcycle License in Texas.
3. Do I need this course for riding a scooter in Texas?
Yes, whether it's a motorcycle or a scooter, if you're on a motorized two or three-wheeled vehicle on Texas public streets, you need a Motorcycle License. This requirement applies to scooters as well.
4. I've never ridden a motorcycle before. Can I still take this course?
Absolutely! No prior riding experience is necessary, but having a good sense of balance is important. If you haven't ridden a bicycle in a while, it's a good idea to practice your balance for at least a week before class.
5. I've been riding for years but don't have a motorcycle license. Do I need the Basic RiderCourse?
You'll need a motorcycle safety course to get your motorcycle license. If you're an experienced rider without a license, you can choose from several options, including the Basic RiderCourse, the Basic Rider Course 2 License Waiver, or our Total Control Intermediate Riding Clinic to obtain your Texas motorcycle license.
6. I already have a motorcycle license but haven't ridden in a while. Can I take the course again?
Of course! Many experienced riders choose to take our course for a refresher. Plus, you can use the completion card to lower your motorcycle insurance. We welcome you to join us again!
7. Is there pre-course training required before class?
Yes, starting from January 1, 2018, all students registering for the Basic RiderCourse must complete the MSF Basic eCourse online before attending class. It's an interactive program that covers the basics of motorcycling. Once done, you'll receive a completion certificate to present to your instructor on the day of your class. It's a convenient way to kickstart your motorcycle training from home!
8. What should I bring to class? Do I need to bring my motorcycle or scooter?
At Go Motorcycle Training School, we provide the motorcycle or scooter, helmet, and gloves. You should bring a long-sleeve shirt, long, sturdy pants, shoes or boots that cover your ankles, and eye protection like glasses, sunglasses, or goggles. For the Basic RiderCourse, you'll use our motorcycles, so no need to bring yours. However, if you own a scooter and prefer to use it, give us a call for more information.
9. Can I use my own helmet and gloves?
Certainly! If your helmet is DOT approved, you can use it during the class. If you have full-fingered gloves, feel free to bring them; you'll likely find them more comfortable.
10. How old do I need to be to take the course?
You must be at least 15 years old on the first day of class to enroll. If you're between 15-17, there are additional requirements, so check our Requirements for Minors section for more details.
11. How long is the class?
The Basic RiderCourse is approximately 16 hours in total. You'll spend about 5 hours on online training, and the in-person portion spans approximately 11 hours over two consecutive days.
12. How many students are in each class?
Typically, there are no more than 8 students in each class, ensuring personalized attention.
13. I have a busy schedule. Are there options for me?
If you have a hectic schedule, we offer private classes that can be tailored to fit your availability. Check out our Private Lessons section for more information.
14. Can my friends and I take the class together if our schedules differ from the posted ones?
Absolutely! Group classes are a great option for you and your friends. Contact us, and we'll work out a solution to accommodate your group.
15. What happens if it rains during the class?
We train in real riding conditions, so we ride rain or shine. Be prepared for any weather; if the forecast predicts rain, make sure to bring rain gear.
16. What's your refund and cancellation policy?
We understand that life can be unpredictable. If you need to reschedule, kindly provide us with 72 hours' notice to allow another student to take your spot. If you give us less than 72 hours' notice, there will be a $50.00 rescheduling fee. If you fail to show up without prior notice, you forfeit your tuition. While our courses are generally non-refundable, we can process refunds for emergency situations with a 72-hour notice, subject to an administrative fee. Please note that once you start the course, there are no refunds for partial attendance, failing the skills tests, or being dismissed from the safety course.
17. Is it possible to fail the course, and what happens then?
While we have a high success rate, there may be instances where a student is unable to continue or fails the course. For the riding portion, if you have difficulty meeting exercise objectives or if the RiderCoach believes you are a safety risk to yourself and others, you may not be able to continue. Don't worry, though! Additional tutoring or private lessons, available at an extra cost, can be an option to help you improve your skills.
If you have more questions, don't hesitate to contact us via phone, email, or chat. We're here to assist you in any way we can!
